Awkward (Anyone)

Skyla had decided to take Lilly out shopping as a weekend treat. She had been doing really well in school recently so Skyla figured she had earned it. She had told Lilly to pick whatever she wanted.
"Oh wow that's really nice Skye!" Lilly said before running over towards a lilac dress across the room.
"Lilly sweetheart be careful!" just as Skye finished Lilly had ran into someone. Skye ran over and helped her up. "Silly you need to be more careful. I'm so sorry about that...." Skye stopped when she saw who it was.

"Skyla" Jeff smiled

"Jeff....Hi....how have you been?" Skyla smiled back. She smiled on the outside but somehow her insides were punching her.

"Great, just doing some shopping for Nicole, she's getting big" he chuckled a bit

"I'm shopping with Lilly. She's been getting very good feedback from school lately." Skyla replied giving Lilly a hug. "How are the kids?" Skye asked.

Jeff gave Lilly a little smile

"Oh, um growing, greedy, loud but incredible all at the same time" he laughed

"Good. Have you met Lilly before? She's Rick's daughter." Skyla smiled. Lilly gave a small smile.

"Can't say I have? Nice to meet you"

"You too." Lilly smiled again.
"She's not usually this shy." Skye giggled a little.

"So is this the step daughter?" he asked

"Not yet. Me and Rick aren't married."

"Oh" he nodded "Well, still nice to meet you" he told Lilly

"You too." Lilly smiled.
"So what about you? Anyone new in your life yet?" Skyla asked.

"Nicole" he nodded "She insist on being the only women in my life" he chuckled

Skyla laughed a little "She's a good girl. Tell her I say hi?" Skyla asked.

"You can tell her yourself, next weekend is Tristan's birthday. My dad is throwing him a little party at the house. All the kids will be there, if you want to come"

"I remembered." Skyla smiled "If it's not too much trouble."

"Why would it be? You're their mom"

"Thinking about you. We never exactly had an easy break up."

"It's not about us, its about them."

"I know..."

"But.." he said pulling her slightly to the side away from Lilly "...It may be best if you come alone"

"Why? They'd love Lilly and Rick." Skyla replied.

"Too much. We have to take it one day at a time. They still fully don't understand the divorce, so I don't think its a good idea to introduce your new family to them. Especially on that day."

Skyla sighed a little. "Yeah...you're right..."
