Getting Something Then Losing It (Courtney/Randy)

"No I don't want anything." Courtney said as she looked out the window.

"Okay." He said.

Courtney ran a hand through her hair as she continued staring out the window.

Randy pulled up to the house twenty minutes later.

Courtney got out of the car and walked in the house.

"Mommy!" Kayla yelled as she ran up to Courtney.

Jake smiled then walked over to Courtney and lifted his hands up, wanting to be picked up.

Courtney stared at them for a second then walked up the stairs and went to her and Randy's room.

"Mommy's just a little sad right now." Randy said as he got out of the car.

"Why?" Kayla asked.

Jake walked over to Randy then lifted his arms up.

Randy bent down and picked up Jake.

"Mommy had an accident last night." Randy replied.

"What kind of accident?" Kayla asked.

"I think it would be better if mommy and I explained it to you later." He said.

Kayla nodded.

"Ice cream makes her feel better and she said the baby likes it too. We should get her ice cream." Kayla said.

"Mommy's not in the mood for ice cream." He said.

"But we have to make her happy. Being sad isn't good for the baby." Kayla said.

Randy sighed.

"There is no baby." He said.

"Daddy don't be silly you and mommy told Jake and me mommy was having another baby." Kayla said.

"There was a baby, but there isn't one anymore." He said.

"I don't get it." Kayla said.

"The baby is gone." He said.

"Jake and I aren't going to get a baby brother or sister?" Kayla asked.

"No." Randy said.

Kayla pouted then hugged Randy's leg.

Jake looked at Randy then hugged him.

Randy ruffled Kayla's hair as he kissed the top of Jake's head.

"How can we make mommy feel better?" Kayla asked.

"I honestly don't know." He said.

Kayla pouted.

"I don't like mommy sad." Kayla said.
