Earlier Than Expected

Elle sits in the waiting room to be called into the doctor's office. She was eight months pregnant and was going in for her routine check-up with the doctor.

With John on the road, Elle asked her best friend Courtney to come to the appointment with her since she didn't want to go through this one alone.

Flipping through a magazine, Elle looks up, smiling when Courtney comes in.

Courtney smiled at Elle then gave her a hug.

"Hey best friend." Courtney said.

"Hey best friend." Elle says, hugging Courtney back. "Thank you for coming today."

"You're welcome, I'm always here for you." Courtney said.

"I know, which is why I love you." Elle says.

"I love you too. How are the twins?" Courtney asked.

"A handful and they haven't even arrived yet." Elle replies. "All I can do is eat and sit around, I can't even do anything cause I'm so big."

"Aw I feel so bad for you." Courtney said.

Elle pouts.

"I do too, I can't wait for them to come out." She says, slowly getting up when her name was called.

Courtney stood up.

"You need help?" Courtney asked.

"I'm good." Elle says, holding on to her back as she starts to waddle to the doctor's room.

Courtney nodded as she followed Elle.

Elle gets into the room, letting out a sigh of relief when she sits down.

"The doctor will be here soon." A nurse says before walking out.

"Do you want anything?" Courtney asked.

"No, I'm fine." Elle says.

Courtney nodded then sat down.

Elle looks over when the doctor comes in.

"Hi Elle." He says

Elle smiles at him as she lays down.

"Let's check out the twins and see what's going on." He says, starting the machine.

Elle nods her head, looking at the screen.

Courtney looked at the screen.

"You aren't going to like the news I'm going to tell you." He says.

"What? Are they okay?" Elle asks, starting to panic.

"They're fine but we need to induce your labor so that you and the babies stay okay." He replies.

"Uh..I'm confused." Elle says.

"We need to put you in labor, it's better to get the babies out now instead of waiting for you to go to labor. They're far enough along to where they should be healthy." He says.

"So..that means I'm going to give birth to them...soon." Elle says.

"It's going to look that way." He replies.

"But their idiot of a father isn't here...then again he is never there for important things." Courtney said.

Elle groans.

"I'm sorry Elle, I'll go get a nurse to move you in another room and get this started." He says before leaving the room.

"This sucks." She mutters, grabbing her phone and calling John. "This would happen to me."

"Don't worry I'll be here if John doesn't bother to show up." Courtney said.

John looks down at his phone just to see it was Elle

"What's wrong?" John asked

"I'll kill him if go through this without him." Elle says.

"Uh, I'm about to go into labor." Elle says when John answers the phone.

"What?! And your not killing me." He says
