The Beginning Of Trouble

"Well thanks, appreciate it." Randy said.

"You're welcome. I was going to top it with strawberries but if you want fudge or something else I can do that instead." Courtney said.

"No, strawberries are just fine." Randy said.

"Okay, the cheesecake it going to be another thirty minutes." Courtney said.

"Alright." Randy nodded.

Courtney nodded.

"I'm going to take a shower, could you just make sure it doesn't burn?" Courtney asked.

"Yeah, I'll keep an eye on it." Randy replied.

"Thanks." Courtney said before she walked upstairs and went into their bedroom.

She grabbed some clothes and went into the bathroom before she stripped then went into the shower. After twenty minutes Courtney came back downstairs then walked into the kitchen and checked the cheesecake.

"I think it's almost done." Randy said, sitting at the kitchen table.

Courtney nodded then waited a few minutes before she took the cheesecake out of the oven and set it to the side to cool down. She then started making the strawberry topping.

Randy got up once Courtney seemed to have everything under control in the kitchen and went into the living room to watch t.v.

After finishing the topping she poured it over the cheesecake before grabbing plates. She cut two slices of the cheesecake then put them on the plates before grabbing forks. Courtney walked into the living room and held out one of the plates to Randy.

"Hope you like it." Courtney said.

"Sure, I will." Randy said, taking the plate and the fork before taking a bite out of it. "And I was right, this is delicious."

"Great, I'm glad." Courtney said with a smile before she sat down and started eating.

Randy smiled a little and continued to eat his cake.

When she saw Randy smile Courtney could feel her smile widen a little. It felt good to know she did something right and may have helped her marriage a bit.

Randy finished his slice of cake a bit later and set the plate down on the coffee table. "That was really good, thank you."

"You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it." Courtney said, finishing her slice after Randy.

"You really didn't have to go through all the trouble to make a cake though." Randy said.

"I know but it's your favorite dessert and I haven't made it in awhile." Courtney said.

"Well, thanks." Randy said.

"You're welcome, I also figured it would be a nice gesture to help smooth things over a little." Courtney said.

"Oh...well, that was nice.." Randy said.

"Yeah." Courtney said with a nod as she looked down at her hands.

Randy stood up and grabbed their plates to put them in the kitchen sink.
