Returning (Jeff/Cassie)

After that night with Jonathan and the fight with Jeff. Cassie had decided she was going to be the bigger person and apologize to Jeff for leaving. She drove back to their house in Raleigh, sighing before she opened the door. She had no idea where Jeff would be. The house was still pitched black.

"Hello?" she called out.

Jeff was sketching with one single light around him. He was in pain, he was hurt that she would just leave him like that. He could help himself, he didn't need anyone. Jeff continued to sketch not realizing that Cass had returned.

Cass walked through the house. If Jeff was in he was either asleep or had his i-pod on. "Jeff?" she shouted again.

Jeff stopped for a moment, "In here!"

Cassie jumped a little. She knew where he was. She pushed the door open a little and walked in.
"Jeff?" her voice was barely above a whisper.

"What?" He said, not looking up from his paper.

"Jeff, the least you can do is look at me."

"Why would I do that?" Allie asked.

"Because I'd like you to be looking at me when I apologize." Cass said

Jeff turned his head, "I'm looking at you."

"I'm so sorry for last night...I should've have been like that at all...I was out of line."

"Okay." Jeff said before turning back around.

Cass sighed deeply.
"Please Jeff I'm trying my hardest I didn't mean any of it...especially not the bit about Jonathan." Cassie lied.

Jeff turned back to her, giving her a look before turning back to his sketch.

"Jeff....please....the last thing I want is for you to hate me....think about the kids."

"What do the kids have to do with your wrong doing?" Jeff asked.

"This wasn't all me Jeff! You played a significantly large part in this, or am I still too drugged up to think clearly?" Cass started to raise her voice.

"This isn't about the drugs Cassandra!" Jeff shouted, throwing his sketchbook down as he shot up, glaring at her. "I have a question though. Do you feel sorry for leaving? Or what you did after you left?" He growled getting in her face. "Huh?"

"I'm EXTREMELY sorry for leaving!" Cass needed a quick excuse "I went to Macy's house she let me stay the evening...and coming back to your start, drugs got us into this problem!" Cassie shoved Jeff back a bit.

"You are such a fucking liar." Jeff said darkly. "How would you do that when Macy's in LA with Mike this week?"

Cassie bit her lip. "Fine you want the truth, I checked into the hospital and spent the night there. And don't you dare use that fucking tone with me, who do you think you're talking to?"

Jeff rolled his eyes, something still felt sketchy. "Whatever, I'm sorry for speaking to you like that."

Cassie stayed quiet for a moment. The emotions were too much and she began sobbing.

Usually Jeff would try to console her, but he wasn't feeling pity for her at the moment. He was lying to her, he knew it. Jeff just shrugged and went back over to his sketchbook before picking it up and walking out of the room, leaving her to cry alone.

Cass just walked out the room and ran upstairs into their bedroom. She dropped onto the bed and continued her crying. She had come back to try and make amends but apparently not. She began to wonder why she had even left Jonathan's house in the first place.
