It Never Ends

That made John swallow hard and by the look on his face clearly broke a piece of his heart. He looked at the wall, not able to look at Elle now. It was too hard at the moment after what she admitted. Maybe he shouldn't be surprised by it but it still hurt like hell.

"I don't know what you want me to say, John. You have me in a tight spot right here." Elle said.

"Don't say anything...just don't say anything else. I don't know why I even had my hopes up for anything good to come out of your mouth. I'm the one who caused all of this, guess it's my time to pay for it." John said.

Elle let out another sigh, surprisingly feel bad for John. "I'm sorry...maybe I should go...you don't need this right now. I'm not what you need right now." She said.

John looked up at Elle and quickly shook his head.

"Please don't. I need someone to be with me, make me feel like everything's going to be okay. I know I'm the last person who should be asking for favors but I can't help but feel alone in this world everytime you walk out that door." John said.

Elle looked at John, not too sure if she could be what he needed her to be. She simply just nodded her head though, walking over to the chair nearby and taking a seat.

John was happy when Elle decided to stay, he didn't show it but he was really thankful for her company.

"The kids still doing okay?" John asked.

"Mhm, they're fine. At a friend's house." Elle replied.

John nodded, happy they were doing alright and knew little about what was going on.

"When am I allowed to get out of here?" John asked.

"I guess when they think you're better. Your mom would probably know the answer to that question better than me." Elle replied.

John nodded his head then looked behind Elle.

"Where is my mom? She didn't come with you?" John asked.

Elle shook her head. "It's late and she was sleep. I came here alone, don't think she knows."

John nodded.

"How's she doing? Like really doing? She puts on a brave face most of the time with me." John said.

"How do you think she's doing John? She's hurt, scared, and worried about you." Elle answered.

John sighed as he leaned back against his pillows and ran a hand down his face.

"Sorry, stupid question." John said.

Elle fought the urge to nod and agree with John. "It's alright.'

"You think she'll or anyone will ever forgive me for what I did?" John asked.

"Sure they will, I know she will though. She is your mother." Elle said.

John nodded, he wanted to believe that for his sake. His mother meant the world to him. Even though he wasn't the youngest of the Cena kids he was sort of her baby and because of that he was the closest to her. Life without his mom in it would kill him.

"I don't know how much more of me making mistakes she can take. She's not too old but old enough that this stress could really do some damange to her." John said, a worried tone in his voice.

Again, it was becoming harder and harder to not blatantly agree with everything John was saying. He was now worrying about how is actions would affect others after all that had occurred.

"Yeah..well..she's still here, so that's what matters." Elle said.

John looked up at Elle and stared straight into her eyes. She was being easy on him, he knew it.

"You don't have to go easy on me Elle. I don't deserve special treatment." John said.

"John...don't try and push it, okay? Trying to be nice here for you." Elle said.

John swallowed hard and just nodded. He didn't know why he was pushing Elle's buttons so much, she didn't deserve that. Maybe though he just wanted her to yell at him like his mom did when she was here. Give him the treatment he knew he deserved, he never liked it when people suger coated everything for him.

Oh believe her, it was taking everything to not go off on John. She wanted to, she really did, but didn't think it was appropriate, not right here. Elsewhere, it was a possibility but John had been through a lot and she was sympathetic enough to hold herself back some.

John then looked up at the clock and noticed Elle was right about it being late. He looked back at his wife and gestured to the couch.

"You can make yourself comfortable if you want or I can move over so you can sleep on the bed. It's pretty late, you should probably sleep." John said.
