Just Talking (Courtney)

Lucky was having a rough time lately. After talking to Courtney on Connected, Lucky had asked her out to lunch so they could talk. She did feel kind of bad, she knew Courtney was a lo busier than her. Lucky walked into the restaurant and waited for Courtney. She looked at her phone as she waited for her to arrive.

Courtney stepped out of her car and walked quickly into the restaurant in attempt to not get soaked by the rain that was falling. Even though she wasn't really that close to Lucky after chatting with her a bit on Connected it was easy to tell she needed a friend to talk to. So once Courtney was inside and was shown to the table she offered Lucky a smile.

"Hey." Courtney greeted as she slid into seat across from Lucky.

Lucky looked up from her phone and smile slightly, "Hi, thanks for coming."

"No problem, I figured you could use a friend based on your status on Connected so I'm happy to help you in anyway I can." Courtney said.

"Yeah," She sighed, "Friends are sparse anymore, well, for me anyway. Everything that could ever go wrong has. But thanks again, I know you're probably way busier than me."

"I got off my tour a couple weeks ago, I'm not as busy as you think. Just been spending time with family and christmas shopping." Courtney said with a chuckle.

"But anyway what's going on with you?"

"Well, I don't mean to talk your ear off but here goes." She chuckled a bit, "So, things weren't working out between Wade and myself. We divorced a few months ago. I've been, 'edgy' as of lately, and I haven't seen my kids once in the past few months. Macy hates me like it's her job or something. People talk down to me as if I'm a child. I've been ready to kill myself. I'm surprised Heath hasn't already murdered me. My life is a mess."

Courtney's eyes widened a bit as she listened to what Lucky had to say. She certainly wasn't expecting any of that.

"Damn...I'm really sorry you're going through all of that. That's just terrible." Courtney said, shaking her head in disbelief.

"It's fine, it's not your fault." She wiped her eyes with her sleeve, "As most would tell me, I'm just pitying myself."

"They have no idea what they're talking about and are horrible people then. I've never had a divorce but I know how it feels like to get close to it and I certainly know how it feels to have serious problems in a relationship, neither are easy." Courtney said.

"Maybe you're suffering from the effects of the divorce, that's what's bringing on all the other problems."

(Oh and it's after 12 here in PA so Merry Christmas! )

"I don't care about the divorce all too much, I-I just ant my babies back." She sniffled.

(I'm in PA too, lol, I meant to say it before but I forgot, Merry Christmas! )

Courtney had to hold back her tears as she stared at Lucky, she really felt bad for her. If she lost her own kids she would be devastated. She stood up then walked over to the other blonde and gave her a tight hug.

"What's stopping you from being with them?" Courtney asked.

"Wade's just being an ass about this whole custody thing. He doesn't trust me, he says I'm too childish too handle taking care of them. But in all reality, they're the only reason I ever grew up. They gave me responsibility other than myself." she said as she hugged Courtney back.

"Well did you go to court for the custody issues or did you two just iron out the details on your own? He can't legally keep your kids away from you unless a judge sees you as an unfit mother." Courtney said.

"He keeps telling me that the judges wouldn't see it my way. He'll barely talk to me about it. We tried to take care of it on our own, but I'm rethinking it."

"Lucky you can't just give up like that, he doesn't know how a judge would see anything. As long as you can prove you deserve to be in your childen's lives you will allowed to. Just sitting there and doing nothing doesn't solve a thing though." Courtney said.

"I feel hopeless though. I'm afraid that a judge will see the old me, the drug addict, the alcoholic, not the new me. I'm really trying to change. And now that Heath is back, well, it's not the safest environment for me, let alone my kids. I wouldn't want to endanger them. I really want to see them and I want to fight for them, but I just keep telling myself I don't deserve it. There's something wrong with me." She said

Courtney continued to hug Lucky for a few moments then sat back down so they could continue their conversation.

"Have you ever tried going to a therapist? It seems like you have lost a lot of self confidence and maybe if you tried talking to a professional he'll be able to help you. I don't want to over step by bounds by suggesting it but I'm just thinking if you don't trust yourself neither will a judge." Courtney said.

"I am seeing a professional, and all he's done is blame every single problem I have on someone else and try to prescribe meds, which I refused."

"Maybe you should try to going to someone else then. If someone isn't providing what you think you need you go to someone else." Courtney said.

"I'm convinced that they're all like that. I'm pretty much beyond help the way it is. No one can help me but myself, mainly because I feel like no one else wants to help." Lucky sighed

"Don't take this the wrong way but you seem to give up far too easy. If you really want help you don't sit around and hope for the best. You do everything you can to make things right." Courtney said.

"It's just, when I fight for something I really want, I get called a spoiled brat."

"How does fighting for something you want make you a spoiled brat?" Courtney asked.

"If anything it makes you passionate."

"Ask my ex husband. Everything I do, 'Get out of here, you're being a brat'." She mocked him, "I'm fighting for my kids, I am, I've gone to extremes just trying get them back. Including telling him that they weren't his. I don't know what I was thinking."
