Looking Back (Randy/Courtney)

"Dear God.." Randy muttered.

"That's our cue to go into the other room." Bob said.

"Definitely." Randy said, getting up and going to the living room.

End of flashback

Courtney chuckled at the thought.

"I was sitting there for at least a half hour listening to your mom talk about how cute you were." Courtney said.

"Love the woman, she's so embarrassing." Randy said.

Courtney laughed.

"It was funny to me. I enjoyed getting a laugh at your expense." Courtney said.

"Glad you enjoyed yourself." Randy said.

"You were a really cute baby, Jake and Max looked a lot like you when they were babies." Courtney said with a smile.

"Guess I can't deny them as my kids." Randy joked.

"If you tried I'd kill you." Courtney said.

"I felt them punt me from morning until night at least a thousand times a day, they're yours." Courtney said.

"It was joke, I wouldn't deny them." Randy said.

"Good. Speaking of our children I am so glad they're old enough to sleep through the night. My god, the first night with Kayla she wouldn't stop unless someone was holding her." Courtney said.

"Oh yeah, that was really bad." Randy said with a shake of his head.

It was definitely something we had to get used to." Courtney said.

Flashback

3:30 am. A long cry could be heard from the bassinet in her and Randy's room. Courtney sighed as she slowly sat up and got out of bed then walked over to the bassinet.

"Shh, it's okay sweetie." Courtney whispered as she picked Kayla up and held her.

It's been a couple days since Kayla was able to be brought home from the hospital and sleep was surely missed right now. Kayla was always up a couple times late in the night and Courtney felt like she could fall over in exhaustion soon.

Randy groaned, getting out of the bed. Sleep wasn't coming for either of them, but with traveling on the road, he was extra exhausted. He got out of the bed and walked to Kayla's room. "You should go make her a bottle, I'll hold her."

"Randy you look more tired than I am, I can handle her. You can go back to sleep." Courtney sid.

"Just go get her a bottle, I'll be fine." Randy yawned.

Courtney nodded as she handed Kayla over to Randy then went to go heat up a bottle.

Kayla had stopped crying by now but like every time if she wasn't fully knocked out before she was put back into her bassinet she would cry again. The little girl moaned as she gripped onto Randy's shirt.

Randy sat down in the chair in her room and lightly rubbed Kayla's back.

Kayla yawned as she stretched her arms.

Courtney came back into the room then handed Randy the bottle.

"Thanks." Randy said, adjusting Kayla in his arms so that he could feed her.

"You're welcome." Courtney said as she sat on the arm of the chair.

Kayla moved her head when Randy tried to feed her, refusing to drink the milk.

"Kayla, drink." Randy said.

Kayla continued fussing as she refused to drink the bottle.

Courtney sighed.

"Maybe she's not hungry." Courtney said.

"Well, I don't know what else it could be." Randy sighed, setting the bottle down.

"Maybe we could put her in her carrier then set it on the dryer. I could that can help babies fall asleep." Courtney said.

"I'm willing to try anything at this point." Randy said.
