She's Back

"Well you need to because nothing is wrong." John said.

"Okay, fine whatever. Don't tell me." Elle said, getting off of him, rolling here eyes. She hated when he'd downplay his injuries.

John sighed.

"Elle, it's not that serious." John said.

"Like I said, whatever." She said, going into the closet to put some clothes on.

"Why can't you just accept that as an answer?" John asked.

Elle pulled on a big t-shirt and some comfortable shorts before coming back out. "Because you hide it from me when you're in pain. You'd rather suffer instead of getting help. It makes no sense to me how after all these years of being together you still won't tell me that."

"It's better for you not to know Elle. I'd rather have you not worry than be a wreck, I can handle this on my own." John said.

"I think that has to be the stupidest thing you've ever said to me. What if I did the same thing to you? Didn't tell you if I was hurt or in pain, hm? You'd want to know, right?" Elle asked.

John thought about it, she was right. He would want to know and he'd be upset with Elle if she kept it from him.

"Yes..." John said with a sigh.

"I swear to God you can be so inconsiderate sometimes." Elle rolled her eyes before leaving the bedroom.

"I'm just trying to keep you from worrying about it, I thought I was doing you a favor." John said, following Elle out.

"Forget it, John." Elle said, walking downstairs.

"I swear...I'm the one with the back problems and all you can think about is me not telling you. That's pretty inconsiderate and selfish don't you think Elle?" John asked, starting to get irritated a bit.

"I'm inconsiderate and selfish because I care and am worried because you don't tell me when you're in pain?" Elle said.

"Well what's walking off and refusing to talk to me going to do? Magically make it better?" John asked.

"After all this time you don't want to talk to me." Elle said, stopping and crossing her arms over her chest.

"I'm just doing what I feel will be better on you. Maybe I was wrong with how I went about it but I hate when you worry about me, it feels almost like a burden on you." John said.

"So, you rather me find out all this is wrong with you when you're lying in a hospital or laying across a stretcher? My worry would be worse then. At least if I know now, we can fix the issue." Elle said.

John sighed, he had to admit Elle did have a point.

"Alright, I can see why you're upset now and I'm sorry." John said.

"I just don't like you keeping stuff from me, that's all." Elle said.

"I get it, I'm sorry. I'd react the same way if you hid anything from me. I'll tell you more about my condition in the future, I promise." John said.

"Thank you, that's all I ask." Elle said.

"You're welcome sweetie." John said before he pulled her in for a hug.

Elle sighed contently, wrapping her arms around him.

John smiled as he rubbed Elle's back and kissed her softly on her head.
