Wondering What If

"We should do it again sometime." Elle said.

"I'd love to, it's fun hanging out and talking to you. I enjoy being your friend." Courtney said.

"Same here, I've really enjoyed myself." Elle said.

"Just let me know the next time you're not busy and we'll do something." Courtney said.

"I will give you a call for sure." Elle said.

Courtney nodded then arrived at her house fifteen minutes later. She parked the car in the driveway then got out and opened the backseat door to get Kayla.

Elle got out of the car and took out her keys. "I should probably head back to my place. John should be back soon, might as well tell him what's going on."

"Okay, good luck. Congratulations again." Courtney said with a smile.

"Thanks." Elle smiled before walking over to her car. She got inside and started it, beginning to drive soon after.

Courtney unlocked the front door then walked inside and into the living room.

Elle took the drive back to the house, getting there a little over thirty minutes later. She got out of her car and walked into the house after unlocking it.

Randy headed back to the house after a signing that took up most of the afternoon.

John was already home and was watching tv when he saw Elle walk into the house. He smiled then turned the tv off before he got up and went over to her. After wrapping his arms around her waist John kissed Elle on the lips.

"Hey babe. Where have you been?" John asked.

When she heard a car door close outside Courtney looked up and saw Randy's car in the driveway. She smiled then picked up Kayla as she stood up.

"Hear that? It's daddy." Courtney said to Kayla as she walked to the door to greet Randy.

Elle smiled when she saw John, returning the kiss. "I spent the day with Courtney. I know, it's surprising." She said, her arms going around his neck.

Randy was walking to the door and smiled when he saw Kayla and Courtney. "There are my girls." He said, kissing Kayla on the forehead before pecking Courtney on the lips.

"Oh god, she's going to be buried in a ditch somewhere isn't she?" John asked jokingly with a chuckle.

"Hey sweetie, we missed you. Didn't we Kayla?" Courtney asked.

Kayla giggled with excitement as she reached for Randy.

"No, no, it wasn't actually that bad." Elle said.

"How was you twos day?" Randy asked, taking Kayla from Courtney before walking into the house.

"Really? Wow...you're right that is surprising." John said.

"Good, Kayla and I played together then Elle came over and we went out to lunch." Courtney said.

"We had a good time, she was very nice and helpful." Elle said.

Randy raised an eyebrow at Courtney. "As in my ex-wife Elle? You two hung out?"

John scratched the back of his head still confused but then shrugged. If they were getting along good, nothing to worry about when they saw each other at arenas.

"Okay, glad to hear that. I got home ten minutes ago, been doing nothing but watching tv." John said with a chuckle.

"Yeah, that Elle. What's the problem? We had fun." Courtney said.

Elle nodded her head, stepping away from him. "You eat? I can make you something."

"There is no problem, just a bit shocked, that's all. But it's good you two are getting along." Randy replied.

"No, I'm starving but I thought saying 'Babe, make me a sandwich' when you walked into the door would have been a bad move." John said with a chuckle.

"Oh and yeah we are. It's nice considering how rocky things were in the beginning. I think Kayla enjoyed having someone else around too." Courtney said, tickling Kayla a bit causing the little girl to burst into a fit of giggles.

"Ah, well I'm glad you have some manners." Elle said, walking into the kitchen. She walked around the kitchen, grabbing what she needed, before she settled at the island in the kitchen and starting to put the kitchen together.

"Well, like I said, that's really good to hear. Glad you both had a good time." Randy said with a smile.

"And I also have a ton of respect for the woman I love." John said as he followed Elle into the kitchen.

"Me too. You want me to make you something to eat?" Courtney asked.

Elll smiled a little at John and put down the sandwich she was holding. The nerves she previously had had gone away. This was suddenly a lot easier to tell John.

"Come here, we need to talk." She said. "There isn't a perfect or right moment to say this, so might as well now."

"I'm starving. But if it's too much, I can just order something." Elle said.

John looked at Elle a bit confused then it immediately turned into concern.

"Are you okay? You're not sick or something are you?" John asked.

"No need, it's no trouble at all." Courtney said with a smile, pecking Randy on the lips and Kayla on the cheek before she went into the kitchen.

Elle shook her head a little bit. "Well, I get sick..but I'm fine." Elle said with a sigh. She grabbed John's hand and put it on her stomach. "...I'm...I'm pregnant, John."

"Alright." Randy said, he carried Kayla to the living room and sat down on the floor with her.
