Wondering What If

It took a little bit for that information to process through John's head but when it finally hit him his eyes widened. Pregnant?! Elle was pregnant...with his child?! Wow...so many thoughts were running through his head and he didn't know what to say but as the idea of becoming a father became more real a wide smile started appearing on his face.

"Pregnant?" John finally said with the smile still spread across his features.

Kayla smiled as she leaned against Randy and pulled herself up onto her feet, hanging onto Randy's shirt to keep herself steady.

Elle studied John's face closely after she said that she was pregnant. She wasn't too sure if the silence was a good or a bad thing, but it mad her nerves come back just a little. She avoided looking at him, after the pause, missing what his face looked like now.

She nodded her head. "Yeah..I'm pregnant. I know it wasn't exactly planned...I'm sorry.." She said.

Randy held onto Kayla to keep her balanced when she stood up so that she didn't have to hold onto his shirt and so that she didn't fall either.

The smile was still on his face. He was so excited that Elle's apology and doubt of his reaction didn't disturb his current mood.

"Sorry? What for? I'm thrilled! We're having baby!" John exclaimed.

Kayla laughed then turned her head to one of her blocks and reached for them.

Elle looked up at John and she felt relief come off of her. "Really? You're happy?" She asked.

Randy reached for the block and handed it to Kayla.

"Happy? I'm estatic! I've always wanted to be father." John said.

Kayla looked at the block then tried to put it in her mouth.

"That is so good to hear, you have no idea how happy I am." Elle said.

"No, no, Kayla, you don't do that." Randy said, taking the block away.

"How far along are you?" John asked.

Kayla frowned then put her fingers on Randy's hand, trying to get the block back.

"Not too sure, haven't gone to the doctors. I'm thinking maybe between six or a little over eight weeks." Elle replied.

"You don't put these in your mouth." Randy said, handing the block back to her.

John nodded.

"Have you made an appointment yet?" John asked.

Kayla listened to Randy and put the block on the floor before she reached for another one.

Elle shook her head. "No, not yet. I thought I was sick or something, then it dawned on me that I could be pregnant."

Randy kept a careful eye on Kayla, but let her move around on her own to get the blocks.

"Just let me know so I can try to work it into my schedule, I really want to be there for the first appointment." John said.

Kayla got tired of reaching for the block then looked at Randy and used him to get up on her feet again before she started walking to the block.

Courtney finished making Randy spaghetti and walked into the living room to tell him then froze when she saw Kayla walking.

"If you can't make it, I understand. I know how busy you are." Elle said.

Randy's eyes widened when he saw Kayla start to walk. "Court-...you see this?!" He shouted, having no idea she was in the living room.

"No, no I don't care what Vince says. I need to go to the first appointment, unless there's a live show I'm not missing it." John said.

"Yeah." Courtney said in shock.

Kayla continued walking until she got the block then picked it up before going back to the other block. She put it down on the first block before she smiled at Randy and Courtney

"I don't want you to get in trouble, John." Elle said. "I'm flattered that you want to be there, but you know how your jobs is."

"That's so go, sweetie." Randy said, picking up Kayla and kissing her on the cheek.

John sighed in defeat.

"Alright fine. I'm just really excited, maybe I'm making promises I can't keep but I just don't want to not be there for our baby. Maybe my focus about that subject should be more directed to after it's born but...this is my...our first child. It's really special." John said.

Courtney ran over to them and kissed Kayla on her other cheek. The little girl was confused as to why she was getting so much attention but she accepted it with happiness anyway.

"I have to go find a camera. I may not have been able to get her first steps but I'm getting her second." Courtney said with excitment before she ran upstairs.

Elle nodded her head, giving John a small smile. "I guess we'll just see how it all works out? I understand your job, we'll work it out I'm sure."

Randy chuckled and moved Kayla to sit on his lap. "You did so go,sweetie."

John nodded then wrapped his arms around Elle's waist and kissed her on her forehead.

"I'm sure we will too, we always do." John said with a smile.

Kayla leaned back against Randy then cuddled up to him with a smile on her face and looked up at him.

When Courtney came back down she smiled at Randy and Kayla then took a picture of them.

"It's how we work." Elle said, her arms settling around John's waist as well as she titled her head up to look at him. "Thank you..."

Randy saw the flash and his eyes moved to look up at Courtney. "She wasn't even walking yet, Court." He chuckled.

John smiled down at Elle as he gently rubbed her back.

"What are you thanking me for?" John asked.

"I know but that was a perfect father and daughter picture." Courtney said with a chuckle before she crouched down.

"Kayla walk for mommy."

"For everything." Elle replied. "Being there for me during the divorce, being such an amazing and caring boyfriend, giving me a child, along with giving me everything I could've wanted and imagined in my life. I've never been this happy before.

"Oh right." Randy chuckled. "Send the picture to me when you upload them." Randy said before he put Kayla on her feet. "Go walk to mommy."

John smiled as he brought Elle closer to him and held her tightly.

"I should be thanking you. I've never knew how much I could love someone before I met you, you've really brought the best out of me. I can't believe we're having a baby but I am so happy to become a father and I couldn't have asked for a better mother to my child than you Elle. I love you with all my heart and that's never going to change." John said.

Kayla giggled as she started making small steps towards Courtney.

Courtney took a picture of Kayla then ran over to her with excitment. She kissed her on the cheek then hugged her.

"Awww our baby is growing up." Courtney said.

Elle smiled up at John widely."God you're so perfect, honestly. Everything that you just said...I've never had anyone say that to me before. I love you so much."

"Pretty soon she'll be driving a car and going to college." Randy chuckled.

"No one's perfect, I just try harder than most to be damn near perfect." John said with a chuckle.

"Then she'll have a husband and her own kids..." Courtney paused for a few seconds.

"Hm...I think we should just focus on her next step, saying her first word."

"You a damn good job at that then." Elle grinned.

"One thing at a time, Court. She just started walking." Randy chuckled.

"I'm happy to hear that, I want you to be happy and I want to be the person that makes you happy. When I see you cry my heart breaks." John said.

"Okay...oh food's ready by the way." Courtney said, almost forgetting about it with all the excitement.
