Back In The Day (John)

"Elle was and is too special to let go. I would have been an idiot not to settle down for her." John said.

"Aw...my boy is learning." Carol chuckled.

Elle blushed before excusing herself to go answer the door when the doorbell rang.

"I had to sometimes." John said with a laugh.

"Better late than never. I would've had to scold you for life if you let this go. Almost lost her with that stunt you pulled earlier." She said with a shake of her head.

Elle walked into the kitchen and set the bags of food down. "We both were in the wrong. And that's all behind us, we have the big wedding ahead of us and a beautiful baby boy, I couldn't ask for anything more."

"That's good to hear." Carol smiled.

"I couldn't ask for more either. You've made me the happinest man in the world." John said to Elle as he wrapped an arm around her.

Elle blushed a little more. "Thank you and you make me happy as well."

"You two are so adorable. Young and in love, goodness...okay, I'm going to stop gushing." Carol said, fixing herself a plate.

"Oh like you will really be able to, you'll be back to gushing in five minutes." John joked with a chuckle before he grabbed himself a plate and started putting food on it.

"Hush, John." Carol said.

"Going to have to agree with your mother." Elle said.

"You're sucking up to her now." John joked.

"As she should." Carol said.

"I am doing no such thing, that's my mother in law." Elle said.

"I know babe, only joking." John said with a chuckle before he started eating.

Elle stuck her tongue out playfully at John before fixing herself a plate.

Carol laughed before she began to eat.

"I forget how much I adore your mother." Elle said.

"She's amazing, I really love her to death." John said with a smile.

"You're mother is great, you're lucky to have her." Elle said.

"I know I am. She really is the strongest person and most caring person I know." John said.

"I agree, she really is. I am so glad I met her." Elle said.

"I am too. I really wanted you two to get along." John said.

(I'm going to bed, good night!)

"I know and I am so glad that we did." Elle said.

"Me too, it makes my life so much easier." John said.

"I can imagine so, would've been terrible for you if we didn't." Elle said.

"No, it would have been hell. I can imagine all the bickering." John said as he shook his head.

"It would have been, thank God that didn't happen." Elle said.

John nodded.

"Thank god." John repeated.

He then looked at Elle.

"When did you first fall in love with me?" John asked.

Elle thought for a moment before she spoke. "It probably didn't hit me that I was in love with you until I went to your house and Kimberly opened the door. I knew I cared about you when we were together, but to see you with someone else...like having a family, even though it wasn't yours, killed me. I wanted that to be me."

"I never knew that. Well I sort of figured it may have hurt but I didn't know that was when you fell in love with me." John said.
