Birthday Trip (John/Elle)

John stood by the bags in the airport as he and Elle waited for the plane to be ready for people the board. They were going to head to Hawaii for a week to celebrate Elle's birthday. The kids were staying with his parents so they could have some time for themselves since they barely got any with their busy schedules. John was going to make sure this was the best week/birthday Elle's ever had because he knew he hadn't been the best husband in the world for the last year. He just hoped everything he had planned would go off without a hitch.

"Just so you know you're not getting your gift until we get to Hawaii." John said with a chuckle then smiled at his wife.

Elle smiled and rested her head on John's shoulders.

"What? Way to get me all excited and then not tell me the gift." Elle said with a pout.

John wrapped an arm around Elle then kissed her on the head.

"I know I'm horrible." John joked.

"It'll be worth the wait though." John said.

"But it's such a long flight, babe." Elle said with a slight pout.

"Babe you look really cute when you pout but it's not going to work this time." John said.

"Mean, you're lucky I have patience." Elle said.

I'm lucky I have you period." John said.

"So, am I. I love you, John. It was worth all that we've been through to be here right now with you." Elle said.

John smiled at Elle.

"I love you too. I don't know what I would have done if I lost you." John said.

"It's a new year, let's not worry about that. We have each other now and that's what matters." Elle said.

John nodded in agreement then kissed Elle on her forehead. He stood up when their flight was called to board.

"Ready?" John asked as he grabbed the bags.

"Yes, I'm so excited." Elle said, grabbing John's hand and starting to walk to board the plane.

John smiled.

"I can tell." John said.

"Why wouldn't I be? I haven't been on vacation in so long and especially alone with you." Elle said as she took a seat on the plane.

"I know. That's why I thought giving you this vacation for your birthday would be a great idea and you deserve it." John said.

"Correction; we deserve it, babe." Elle said.

John nodded.

"Alright, we deserve it but it's your birthday so I'm going to make it the best birthday of your life." John said.

"I believe you, babe." Elle said, kissing John on the cheek.

John smiled.

"Good, I'm glad." John said as he handed he walked onto the plane then looked for their seats.

She leaned over to take a look at the tickets before she walked over to their seats and sat by the window.

John followed Elle to their seats and put their bags in the overhead compartment then sat down in his seat.

Elle laid her head on John's shoulder once he sat down beside her.

John wrapped an arm around Elle.

"Wake me up when the plane lands." Elle said with a yawn before she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

John chuckled then grabbed a blanket and put it over Elle.

"Okay." John said before he kissed her on her temple.
