Nine Months, Twice Over (John)

John walked into the house after going to the gym then looked around for Elle. He saw her in the living room and was going to apologize when he saw the look on her face.

"Are you okay?" John asked.

Elle nodded, trying to play it off as she rubbed her stomach. "The baby...I think it's..." She stopped as she let out a small groan.

John took Elle's hand and helped her up then walked her to the door.

"We're going to the hospital." John said.

"No, no, I'm..." Elle paused again as she clenched onto John's hand. "...okay, I think the baby is coming. This is definitely contractions."

John nodded as he guided Elle to the car trying not to freak out, Elle needed him. He unlocked the car then opened the door for Elle and helped her in before he ran over to the other side. After getting into the driver's seat of the car John pulled out of the driveway and started driving to the hospital.

Elle rubbed her stomach as she started to let out deep breaths. "It's..too..soon." She said through her breaths. "I can't believe it."

"Me neither." John said as he tapped the steering wheel, trying to keep his nerves in check.

"Just breathe." John said.

Elle continued to breathe deeply every once in awhile letting out a deep groan. She rubbed her stomach, trying not to think too much about it and stay calm.

John arrived at the hospital ten minutes later and got out of the car before helping Elle out. He helped her into the hospital and into a wheelchair then went up to the front desk. Behind the desk was a young woman obviously not working since she was typing away at her cell phone.

"Excuse me I need your...HELP!" John yelled.

The nurse jumped at the sudden scream and dropped her cell phone in the process. She looked at Elle before she called for another nurse to bring her to the elevator and up to the maternity ward.

Elle was then rushed to the maternity ward. The contractions only seemed to be more frequent and she wasn't too sure how soon the baby was going to come.

The doctors asked John to stay outside the room and they'd let him inside when they were ready. Elle's doctor came inside to assess Elle, a bit surprised that she was due this early. He expected her and came back after awhile to call John in as well.

When John came inside, he began to talk. "Well, there's some positive news. Elle, you aren't going into labor. I'm going to assume you haven't been resting and that's what brought this on. You're coming up on your final month of pregnancy you need to rest, stay in bed, and don't stress so much. You don't want to harm your baby or yourself."

John blinked as he tried to process everything the doctor was saying.

"So she's not having the baby?" John asked.

"No, premature contractions. Usually happens do to stress and over working yourself at the later part of the pregnancy. I told Elle she needed to rest." The doctor replied.

"And she will be doing that, right Elle?" John asked sternly.

"Yes..." Elle muttered.

"You make sure of that, we don't need anymore incidents like that." The doctor said.

"I will. I'll be home a hell of a lot more to make sure she gets the rest she needs." John said.

"You can't do that." Elle said.

"I can so." John said.

"Vince isn't going to let you." Elle said.

"Well, Elle you need to take what I say seriously. It's for the baby." The doctor said.

"I'm taking a break whether he likes it or not. You and our baby are more important." John said.

"We'll be fine." Elle said.

"Yes you will be, with me there to make sure you don't stress yourself out." John said.

"Whatever." Elle muttered.

"Well, keep an eye on her, Elle you're good to go. Just make you listen to what I said, don't need you having the baby early." The doctor said before he walked out.

"You were actually listening to her right? I don't want anything happening to you or the baby." John said.

"Yes, I listened to her. I'll be fine." Elle said, sliding off the examine table.

John then picked Elle up.

"You're not walking." John said as he walked out of the room.
