First Day On The Job (John)

"Yep. Consider it done." John said.

"Oh my gosh! Thank you John!" Cassie said, leaning over to hug John when he stopped at a stoplight.

John chuckled and hugged Cassie back.

"You're welcome, I'm glad I can help you." John said.

"You are such a great guy." Cassie said.

"Thanks, you're a great girl." John said as he drove into a spot in the parking lot then turned the car off.

"Thanks." Cassie said as she got out of the car when he parked.

"You're welcome." John said as he got out and grabbed his bag.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket to see if there was anything from Elle. Nothing again. John shook his head then stuck it back into his pocket, frustrated.

"Everything alright?" Cassie asked, noticing John's expression change.

"Yeah, I'm okay." John lied as he closed the trunk door then locked his car.

"You don't look okay." Cassie said.

"It's nothing...I'm just annoyed." John said.

"C'mon, let's go get you a drink. That'll cheer you up." Cassie said.

John nodded as he walked towards the hotel. A drink would be good. He wasn't ready to go up to the room and see Elle anyway after she just left the arena without telling him. When he traveled he barely got to see her or the kids and was annoyed when the chance he got to see them Elle didn't care to at least call or text him that she was leaving.

Cassie walked inside with John. This was all working out perfectly, in her mind what she was doing not devious, she was smiling bringing to light the issues John had in his marriage that he didn't realize. Elle was obviously selfish and even if she hadn't deleted the text, Elle still never called or texted John again. John just needed to realize that he could do a lot better than Elle.

And she was going to show him that. She also was going to cheer him up and make him happy.

Cassie took a seat at the bar and ordered two beers. "Cheer up for me..please. You've had a great night, don't let this ruin it. Maybe she forgot or got busy?"

"She could have at least done something to tell me that." John muttered.

He shook his head then looked over at Cassie and decided to stop being upset about it for the time being for her. John forced a smile on his face.

"Alright fine, I'll have fun." John said.

"Don't worry about that, worry about having a good time." Cassie said, ordering a round of shots as well. "We are going to have some fun, okay? Okay."

John laughed.

"Didn't even give me a chance to say okay." John said.

"You have no choice in the matter." She giggled. "You may be my boss, but it's my duty to make sure everything is okay with you. So, it's my job to make sure you were in a good mood."

"Well thanks. I'm glad someone cares." John said with a smile.

"Of course I do. Why wouldn't I?" Cassie asked.

"Well if my wife didn't care about me being able to see her or our kids...forget it. I'm supposed to be happy not annoyed." John said before he grabbed his shot glass and drank it.

"Exactly. If she didn't care enough to think of you, than you deserve to worry about yourself for once." Cassie said with a smile as she downed the shot.

"You're right. You're exactly right." John said before he ordered two more shots.

"Of course I am." Cassie giggled with a wink as she took the shot and drank.

John chuckled.

"I was right about you being fun to hang out with." John said.
