"Alright baby, we'll be home soon." John said as he started driving.

Elle nodded as she turned her head and looked out the window.

(Six weeks later)

Elle had been close to her due date, but like the doctor had asked she wasn't over working herself. So, she figured it wouldn't hurt for her to go out with John and celebrate with their friends Courtney's pregnancy. Her back had been hurting a bit and she felt a bit of pain, but figured that was because she was standing around too much helping with the party.

They were on their way back home and traffic was horrible due to an accident. Elle let out a groan, rubbing her stomach as she looked out the window impatiently.

John looked over at Elle and reached over to rub her back.

"Sorry sweetie, I know, traffic sucks." John said.

"Why did these stupid people decide to get in an accident now?" Elle said. "Goodness, I just want to lay down but nooooo...I can't do that and then we couldn't even take a bigger truck today." She said running her hands through her hair.

"I'm sorry sweetheart. I wish I could get us home right now but hopefully it'll let up soon and we can get home. You want to try to lie down in the backseat?" John asked.

"I'm too tired to move. I'm just...ugh, I feel blah, the baby probably wants to rest too. I just..." Elle said, trailing off with a sigh.

"Well then the answer is no." Elle said, then groaning a bit as she rubbed her stomach.

Elle just shook her head as she closed her eyes and groaned loudly. Her eyes snapped open when she felt something wet run down her leg, she looked down and her eyes widened. "....John...my water just broke..." She said in disbelief.

John froze when he heard what Elle said for a few moments. He gulped as his fingers tightened as he held the steering wheel in his hands.

"Um...could you say that again?" John asked.

"My water just broke!" Elle screamed, as she looked down as she realized her worst fear was true.

"Um...stay calm...everything is going to be alright." John said, more so to himself since he was freaking out like crazy inside.

"Everything is going to be alright?! I am going into labor and traffic is not moving!" Elle said.

"No! I don't think you realize that because..." She paused the contraction that hit her causing her to stop what she was doing. The intensity of it was only minimal.

"Breathe Elle, breathe." John said as he took her hand.

He gently rubbed it with his thumb as he looked around. John really didn't know what to do in a situation like this and he really didn't know how to deliver a baby.

"What are we going to do? I can't have the baby...here." Elle said.

"Here's an idea, cross your legs and pretend you're not in labor. Maybe the contractions will stop." John said with a smile.

Stupid idea, not even a realistic one, but John was out of options at this point. An ambulance would never be able to get to them through this traffic and the chances of finding a doctor also in traffic were highly unlikely.

Elle glared at John, a very vicious glare at that. "You are so lucky I am in labor with your child or else I would kill you right now!" Elle said. "I can't pretend that I am not pregnant! This is happening...NOW!"
