"I didn't say pretend to be pregnant, I said pretend to not be in labor." John said, regretting saying that again because he knew it would just get him into more trouble.

"I can't pretend not to be in labor! The baby is coming!" Elle said, yelling more so out of frustration. She wasn't too sure, but this couldn't be too good for the baby.

John pulled his cell phone out and called 911. Sure the traffic didn't seem like it was going to let up and they probably wouldn't be able to get to the car but it was better than doing nothing. As he talked to the operator he looked over at Elle with a concerned look on his face. John was scared that something could happen to her or the baby and he didn't want to lose either one of them.

There was a positive to all of this...somewhere. For now the contractions were far enough apart to where they wouldn't have to worry too much. Elle continued to breath and tried not to think about the predicament they were currently in. She could only hope that before things got worse that this traffic would move so that they could get to the hospital.

John stared at the car in front of him with his hands placed firmly on the steering wheel. The paramedics told him they would try to get to him but it was near impossible with the traffic. Just as he figured it would be.

"I'm screwed...huh?" Elle asked, glancing over at John.

John scoffed and tried to play it out like everything was alright.

"No, of course not." John said.

He then looked over at Elle trying to keep a grin on his face. It didn't take long before John frowned.

"Okay, you're screwed." John said.

"Oh god..." Elle said and soon as she said that another contraction hit her, causing her eyes to clench momentarily. She did her deep breathing as the pain subsided and then she sunk down in her seat a bit. "John..I don't want to have the baby here." She said as her eyes started to tear up.

Sympathy filled John's body as he looked over at Elle and took her hand into his.

"I'll try to get us to the hospital as soon as possible." John said.

John noticed the car in front of him move a little bit forward then jumped in his seat. He put his hand on the steering wheel then moved up a little bit until the car stopped.

"That's progress." John said.

John took Elle's hand with one of his hands, keeping another one on the wheel as he waited to start moving again.

"John, the contractions are getting closer said." Elle said, she had been noting the time on the clock to keep track of how far apart they were. She wasn't going to have the baby now, or maybe even for awhile, but she knew soon the pain would be unbearable if they didn't get to a hospital so that she could get some drugs to subside the pain.

John was now starting to get anxious. He pressed down on the horn and hit it a few times in hopes that the cars would go faster because of it. Luck seemed to be on his side as the cars started to move again.

"Come on fucking traffic." John muttered.

He rubbed Elle's hand with his thumb.

"Try to stay calm sweetie and take deep breaths." John said.

"I'm trying...I am..." Elle said, her mood seeming have shifted a lot. Maybe it was because of the panic, but she was a lot less grouchy than she previously was.

John nodded, continuing to move the car as the traffic lightened up a bit. He brought Elle's hand up and kissed it before he started rubbing it with his thumb again.

Elle's breathing picked up again, doing as she was told do in her classes as another contraction hit her.

"You're doing great Elle." John said as he finally started driving towards the hospital. Finally able to go the actual speed limit.

Elle nodded letting out a loud groan in response, her breathing getting even heavier.
